Sunday Set-list ~ December 28, 2008

Sunday Set-list ~ 12-28-2008

We came in this morning to discover that the tech gremlins had definitely come to visit during the holiday break. We were 30 minutes late on getting our Sunday morning rehearsal started due to technical issues. We finely got everything up and running and finished our rehearsal.
Immediately after rehearsal I went to the sound booth to discover that the media computer was running very slowly, blacking out and unable to play our weekly announcement video (The Buzz). The computer techs worked to try to solve the problem, with only a few minutes left until start time I went down to get ready to start service.
I did a welcome and we started “Awesome is the Lord” got half way through the first verse and I realized that the announcement video was frozen on the screen behind me where the lyrics should have been displayed. So I just gave vocal lead ins before each line so people would know what to sing. Thank God this was not a new song. People are pretty familiar with it so we got through it fine.
Name above all names ~ By this time the words were displayed, thank God. This song is a favorite of our church and people usually respond really well to it.
None but Jesus ~ One of my personal favorite songs to lead. I love singing the words “There is no one else for me, none but Jesus. Crucified to set me free, now I live to bring Him praise”.
Turn Your eyes Upon Jesus ~ We transitioned straight into this one from “None but Jesus”, the two work really nicely together.
What a Friend I’ve found ~ It’s been a long time since we brought this one out. The acoustic guitar part on this song is beautiful. I could really hear the congregation singing out, I love to hear that.
Even though we had a lot of technical difficulties getting started this morning, we had an awesome time worshiping God. Today was one of those days that I really wanted to go on worshiping all day.
Our lead Pastor was out of town on vacation so my husband preached today. He delivered an awesome message titled Savior. It was a great sermon leading into the new year.

Today I feel completely honored, amazed and humbled at the privilege of leading God’s people in worshiping Him. I can’t believe I get to do this, there is absolutely nothing I would rather do!
How was your Sunday?

I have found, when there is a lot of “technical” issues, God is about to do a work in that upcoming worship, and the devil doesn’t like that.

    grace and peace,

We had technical issues with our computer as well. Wonder what THAT’s all about??? We had to run ppt on the sound computer! So it was crazy but people worshipped so I am glad that I don’t have to be perfect for God to move!

I love what you wrote about leading worship. I feel the same way.

Thanks for the comment! I totally understand about tech issues. After a great Christmas Eve rehearsal, with a packed house, the first note of my lead singer’s solo was nowhere to be found! It had gotten unplugged! We just kept playing the intro until the guys figured it out!

Love love love Turn Your Eyes. Beautiful.

    Great set list!

Today I showed up for our big worship service run-through and found out both my primary lighting techs weren’t gonna be there. Yuck.

It worked out with some on the job training. Boy, sometimes it seems communication just doesn’t happen, regardless of the systems in place.

    Way to LEAD today!

We had computer issues today, too! Must have just been “one of those days” for church computers!

Cool list. Key of Bb…do your guitar players capo or shrug it off?

great list steff! you pulled out a delirious tune too:)

the hardest thing for me to do when we have technical issues is to relax…i get all worked up and then in hindsight i realize that i let the problem steal my joy, but more importantly, distracted me from my true purpose as a worship leader…i love technology so much that i tend to place it too high, if you know what i mean:) sometimes i think God speaks to me in the technical difficulties saying “don’t worry about that stuff…focus on Me”…my goal is that He is glorified through it all!

    thanks for sharing!
p.s. how do you link to itunes?

Tech issues are just a distraction. I’m glad you were able to minister through!
