If God had an ipod what would be in the play-list?

I heard Jason Upton once say “if God had an ipod I’m sure we would be surprised at what would be on the play-list.” Now think about that for a minute. God has a lot to choose from there’s a whole gamut of songs and moments for Him to pick from throughout all the years.

He went on to describe the moments that he believes God would pick. This made me pause and think about what I believe God would pick. I truly believe He would pick the moments when you’re overcome with His goodness and mercy and you just start singing to Him from your heart. The moment when you look out at the stars and all that He created and your left speechless, your heart is completely awestruck by His greatness. Or the moment when everything in life seems to be going wrong but you are able to just lay back in His presence and rest assured that He will take care of everything.

I believe the moments God would choose would be the ones when our focus is directed solely on Him. The moments when His people are worshiping Him with all their hearts, the moments when we are lost in total abandonment to God in worship and adoration, the moment when we have completely blocked out everything that’s going on around us and our hearts are filled with wonder at His beauty and grace.

God can pick from it all but He’s not impressed by our giftings and talents. He’s impressed by our hearts. The moments God would pick wouldn’t necessarily be what everyone around Him thinks is cool. The moments He would pick would be about the heart! I don’t know about you but I desire to give God the kind of worship that could make it on His ipod.

Today was a great day! This was our second time doing “You saw me”. Last time it was to low and lacked umph today we did it in G instead of E and it was great!

The plan was to do “Same Power” & “Mighty to Save” as a medley but we had to cut “Same Power” because we ran out of time. The medley went very well in practice and lyrically it goes great with “Mighty to Save”. We’ll do these two together next time.

Made the Switch

I have been thinking about switching from Blogspot to WordPress for a couple of months now.

I finally made the switch and I must say……. so far I like WordPress way better.

We introduced “You are the one” today. It went well, it’s a very simple song with great lyrics. It’s seemed to be very singable for the congregation.

If you haven’t heard “Name above all Names” by Abundant Life Church check out the video. It is a favorite of our congregation. Abundant Life is a church out of Bradford England where Paul Scanlon is the Lead Pastor. They have some great originals. It’s the chorus and bridge of this song that will really hook you.

We introduced “You saw me” today. It went pretty well. It was just a little low in E next time I think I’ll raise it to G. It was well recieved by our congregation but I think it would have more energy in a higher key. I love singing the words “You saw me when You took a crown of thorns and Your blood washed over me”. So awesome to think that He saw us when He was on the cross. We will definitely do this one again. Other than that song being in the wrong key it was a very smooth day with no technical issues or major mistakes.

I had a cold today so my voice sounded really nasaly and congested and my high notes were nonexistant so we sang some of the songs lower than normal. Our pianist helped me out on vocals and led “My Redeemer lives” and “Amazing Grace”. This was a great help.

Today marked the retirement day of “My Redeemer lives” . Great song but it is way past the overdone point for us.

People really connected in our slow songs today. I could really hear the congregation singing out on “None but Jesus” and I saw quite a few tears being shed during “Grace flows” and “Amazing Grace”. Thank God people worshiped and hearts were touched despite my struggles.
